Julia Hess
Julia Hess is project manager of the “Technology and Geopolitics” project. Previously, she worked in the field of communication and public relations for scientific and cultural institutions and NGOs, such as the Max Planck Institute for Human Development. She completed her bachelor’s degree in media culture and sociology at the University of Cologne. During her Master’s degree in Social and Business Communication at the University of the Arts Berlin, her personal research interest was in the changes in society, politics and media through new technologies. In her Master’s thesis, she analyzed the media discourse around automatic facial recognition in the context of digital surveillance.
