Adriana Groh
Adriana Groh is the co-initiator of the Sovereign Tech Fund and CEO of the Sovereign Tech Agency, the first government organisation in the EU dedicated to strengthening critical digital infrastructure in the public interest. Financed by the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, the Sovereign Tech Agency focuses on ensuring the sustainability and resilience of foundational technologies that underpin our society. Adriana’s expertise lies in aligning innovation and digital transformation with democratic values. With extensive experience in open technologies and a strong network across politics and civil society, she shapes the strategic vision of the Sovereign Tech Agency and drives the development of its instruments. Previously, Adriana led a project on digital sovereignty, participation, and data commons with the City of Hamburg and served as the director of the Prototype Fund, an innovation initiative by the Open Knowledge Foundation and Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Her track record includes co-founding impactful tech initiatives such as a chat app for the 2017 and 2021 German federal elections and the #WeVsVirus Hackathon in 2020, which engaged nearly 30,000 participants to address societal challenges.
